Every story has its origin. When it comes to coaching, I thought it would make sense for me to share about my origin for anyone who is curious about it. There were three factors that propelled me towards being a coach:
(1) On a personal level, I enjoy helping others. I can't fully explain the reasons behind, maybe it made me feel good about myself, maybe I just intrinsically enjoy helping others. But whenever I know that I have added values, I would feel this great sense of achievement and satisfaction. I guess if people will to talk about 'life passion', mine would be to make a positive impact on others.
(2) Naturally, I am a good listener. Growing up, I have always been that friend who listens to my friends' sharing and rants, celebrating their successes, empathising their tough times, and sharing advices. Then, I later learned that being a coach requires active listening and the desire to help others. Moreover, I could even have a second profession to venture into if I succeed! Everything sounds right that I could try putting my natural inclinations into good use.
(3) I have gone through coaching as a coachee. My previous company offered coaching as a mental wellness option and since it was free, why not give things a try right? I then went through 6 sessions with minimal expectation but what have exceeded my expectations are the new, useful perspectives about myself and my life. These are things I carried with me and I felt that I have personally grown as an individual. I have witnessed changes in my life. Through coaching, I felt helped, I found growth.
Putting everything together, it becomes easy to see why I wanted to give this field a try. I subsequently went for a full coaching program and over the course of 9 months, I learned more about what a coach does and eventually fell in love with coaching. Fortunately enough, I found myself to be quite decent at it too. It's not just self-praise ok, I have some evidences (link) too 😂 I felt like I have unlocked additional capabilities to help others.
So that's how Jason the Coach was born. Through my coaching, I hope to take baby steps towards helping as many people as possible to discover their potential and find the steps to get to a better spot in their life. It sounds ambitious, but I choose to believe that I can get there. This is the beginning of my journey and I thank you for being here with me :)
If you are curious to try out a coaching call, I will be a booking away. It can be about anything (career, relationships, personal growth, etc), but the main focus is about you. Take that step forward, only you can do it for yourself -- WEBSITE.
